Preparing for your cacao ceremony
Preparing for a cacao ceremony is about creating a sacred, intentional space where you can connect deeply with yourself and the spirit of the cacao. This ceremony is a personal and and can be a transformative experience, so be open to whatever comes up, and trust your own process.

- Ceremonial-grade cacao (10-25 grams light dose, 25-35 grams medium dose, 35-45 grams ceremonial dose).
- Water or (plant-based) milk when you prefer it.
- Spices like cinnamon and/or cayenne. Cayenne enhances both the physical and energetic effects of cacao by improving the blood circulation, supporting digestion and amplifying the heart-opening sensations of cacao because of its warming effect.

The ceremony
1. Set your intention
Before beginning, reflect on your reasons for doing the ceremony. Whether it's for clarity, healing, creativity, or self-love, clearly state your intention. This helps to guide your experience. Make sure to be specific about what energy it is you want to embrace during the ceremony.
2. Create a sacred space
Find a quiet, comfortable spot where you won't be disturbed. Cleanse the space with sage, incense, or essential oils if that resonates with you. You can set up candles, crystals, or any other meaningful objects to help create a peaceful, sacred atmosphere.
3. Ground yourself
Before drinking the cacao, sit in stillness for a few minutes to ground yourself. Practice deep breathing or a short meditation to calm your mind and body. When being in a state of stillness you're more likely to receive the energy you want to embrace.
4. Lit the ritual candle
Lit the candle, set your intention out into the Universe and tap into how it feels to embrace this energy.
5. Drink with intention
Slowly sip the cacao, focusing on its taste and the warmth it brings. As you drink, meditate on your intention and allow any emotions, insights, or feelings to arise naturally. There is no rush—honor the process and stay present.
6. Meditate or journal
After drinking, spend some time in this energy. Meditate, journal, or simply be with yourself. The cacao will help open your heart and increase awareness, so this is a good time to reflect, process emotions, or receive insights.
7. Close the ceremony
When you feel ready, close the ceremony with gratitude. You can express thanks to the cacao, the Earth, and yourself for the experience. Make sure to ground your energy in a way that feels right.
This is an example of how you can shape your ceremony. Feel free to adjust and add as many activities as you like. Keep in mind that every ceremony can look very different every time. Just go with the flow and go after what feels right for you in that moment.
